On the twenty-eighth day of September in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and seventy two, John F. Bloomingcamp deeded .6 acres to the Bogus School District Trustees for the sum of one dollar. On February 21, 1907, the Trustees of the Bogus School District sold to John Neville the .6 acres for one dollar. The school had to close for lack of children. A few years latter there were enough students to reopen the school. Mr. Neville sold the .6 acres back to the school district for one dollar. In 1976 the school needed to spend a lot of money on the old school building to bring it up to California's earthquake standards or re-locate. The district's Trustees decided to relocate. Mr. Harold Foster of Bogus Creek Ranch, a descendant of John F. Bloomingcamp (his Great Great Grandfather) and John Neville (his Great Grandfather) deeded the Bogus School District 2.2 acres for a new school on July 7, 1976. The old school building became the home of a church, Copco Chapel. A new school was built in 1976 with a kitchen and one classroom. In 1988 an addition was built, adding a new kitchen/cafeteria and another classroom. On November 12, 2003, the school district's Trustees deeded the original .6 acres back to Bogus Creek Ranch for the sum of one dollar. The old site will continue to be used as a church. |
